These past two days have been a bit trying at some points. When there is activity, the day isn’t bad as time goes by pretty quickly; however, most of the day goes by pretty slowly because there is not a lot for me to do. When this downtime comes, I want to either read or sleep to pass the time since I have nowhere near the amount of Arabic required to be able to speak with my rural home stay family; however, these activities are not really that easy to do as whenever I try to do them people either try to speak to me—even though I can not understand what they are saying—or they play with my camera and cell phone.
Making the time go by more slowly, these actions annoy very much. When there are no tasks for me to do, I need one of these three things: a TV, a book to read, or a person to speak with. With none of these things, this has been the slowest week of my life so far. The only possible salvation is the fact that tomorrow should go by more quickly since the family, being nomads, is breaking camp and will have a lot for me to do.
